About Your Guide: Shiva Rea

Shiva's retreats explore the art of yoga in practical, creative and life transforming ways. Her studies in the Krishnamacharya lineage, tantra, ayurveda, bhakti, kalaripayattu, world dance, yogic art and somatic movement infuse her approach to living yoga and embodying the flow. She is a leading teacher of Prana Flow yoga worldwide. Shiva is known for bringing the roots of yoga alive for modern practitioners in creative, dynamic and life-transforming ways and for offering the synthesis form of vinyasa flow out in the world.

As a global adventurer, she has lead over 80 retreats and pilgrimages nationally and internationally as well as served as a creative catalyst for conferences, festivals and actions for the environment, yoga and the arts including the third annual Yogini Conference of Kripalu and Omega. Shiva writes for Yoga Journal and is the author of award-winning CD's and DVD's to empower and transform yoga home practice.

YOGADVENTURES CANCELLATION/PAYMENT POLICY: Full balance due must be paid 30 days prior to event start date - if we do not receive full balance by this time we will automatically charge to the card we have on file from your initial registration. A non-refundable deposit of $500 PER person is required to hold your space for this retreat and is due at the time of registration.

In the event of cancellation:

  • 60 days or more prior to the retreat: your entire payment will be refunded, less $500 non-refundable deposit plus a $50 administration fee.
  • 59-30 days prior to the retreat: less your $500 non-refundable deposit, your remaining balance can be applied to a future retreat only within 2 years.
  • 29 days or less prior to the retreat: forfeit all retreat money rendered.

For your own protection Yogadventures requires mandatory travel insurance. We have found that the outbreak is a “known event” and is excluded by most standard Trip Cancellation policies. Should governments advise against travel somewhere most insurance will cover flights and more. When securing your travel insurance we recommend a Cancel For Any Reason policy. March 25th is Bali's annual Nyepi Holiday a ‘Day of Silence’ where all is closed including the airports! When planning travel around this period, take note that there is very little activity outside your hotel on the beaches and the streets. Shops will be closed and even Denpasar Airport remains closed all day. Only emergency operations are carried out. It is expected that foreigners will respect the traditions of the Balinese people during Nyepi and will resume their itinerary in the subsequent days. Please plan accordingly.

FAQs

What can I expect on a Yogadventures retreat?

Fun, connection, transformational yoga, celebration, nourishment, relaxation, release, uncovering self discovery layers, embracing the prana of nature, sacred living, rituals, living flow....

Do I need yoga experience?

No, we welcome all! Depending on if you chose the teacher training portion there may be some prerequisites and required reading and prepatory online courses. See Teacher Training Tab

When will I receive trip details?

You will receive a welcome letter from us approximately two weeks before the retreat, you will also receive a confirmation letter upon registration and a prep letter about a month before the event.

Can I arrive early and stay late?

Unfortunately we are unable to book any additional stays outside our retreat dates. Any addition stays need to be arranged directly with the venue. 

What’s Included?

Please refer to the Welcome Tab/Retreat Flow Tab for more details, but typically we include all lodging, breakfasts/brunch and most dinner meals. Each event varies, but we often include 1-2 excursions and a few other special treats. Yoga and meditation classes are included, however the teacher training yoga portion is an additional fee. 

Can I go on a Yogadventure by myself?

Yes! Many of our Yogadventurers come alone and leave with lifelong friends. If you’re traveling alone, a yoga retreat is the best way to meet new people with similar interests in a safe and healthy environment.

How many people will be on the retreats?

Depending upon the retreat but we host typically ~50 yogis!

What type of food is offered?

We always enjoy delicious food on our retreats and strive to include organic, fresh ingredients, vegetarian/vegan options as often as possible.

What should I bring?

You will receive a more extensive list in your welcome letter, however some suggestions are yoga mat/props, sunscreen, comfortable clothes and shoes, layers for all weather, sunglasses, headlamp, book, journal, reusable water bottle, and an openness to flow!

How much free time do we have?

We offer a healthy balance between our group time and solo free exploratory time. Depending on the Yogadventure we will be in nature, we may be inside some of the time, we always have long breaks mid- day ... staying open to the flow of all and needs of the group.

Do I need extra cash? How much?

 If you choose to go on any optional excursions you will be responsible for the costs and the retreat center can help you arrange for your needs. Please see Sanctuary Tab

How do I get from the airport to the retreat center?

For most of our retreats you will be responsible for your own airport transfer unless stated otherwise. Our facebook page for each retreat is a good place to connect with other to arrange shared travel.

Do I need to book my own flight?

Yes, you are responsible for your flights and travel arrangements and details. You can find helpful suggestions on our Travel Tab and itineraries can be found on our Retreat Flow Tab

When should I book?

We are big fans of "the sooner the better" - we also often have Early Bird Specials for those to register early - more often than not our retreats sell out!

Is travel insurance mandatory? How do I purchase it?

Yes! Travel insurance for all of our Yoadventure retreats is mandatory. We are unable to have your participation unless proof of travel insurance is sent to us. Purchase your travel insurance within a week of purchasing your plane flight. You can find many options at SquareMouth.com. Please send proof of travel insurance to retreats@yogadventures.com
