Sher Breen

Location: Boston, MA Level: E-RYT 200
Sher Breen/Japa Kaur, E-RYT 200, is passionate in her practice and teachings of yoga and meditation. Growing up, she embraced the fluid and freeing qualities of dance movement and the meditative aspects of being out in nature. After being disconnected from both for a period of time, she began to formally practice both yoga and meditation as a way to connect back to these elements. An avid student, Sher has practiced and been inspired many types of yoga and has also studied an eclectic mix of meditation styles. After ten years as a practitioner, Sher completed a 200 hour Hatha Yoga teacher training with Jen Ryan through The Yoga Loft in Wilmington, MA. She has completed a Level I Kundalini Yoga Teacher training through Yoga at the Ashram in Millis, MA with Hari Kaur Khalsa and is a certified Prana Flow teacher having completed Shiva Rea’s 300 hour teacher training.

Seeing yoga and meditation as holistic forms of wellness has led her to also study several areas of yoga more in depth including anatomy, philosophy and the more esoteric elements. These studies have led her to complete additional certifications in teaching Restorative Yoga and Trauma Sensitive Yoga. She is a Level I iRest (Yoga Nidra meditation) teacher and Advanced Reiki practitioner. Sher is currently pursuing training in Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda.

Loving diversity, Sher teaches a variety of classes ranging from soothing restorative practices, slow flow vinyasa to more dynamic heated classes and energetic Kundalini kriyas. She believes that yoga and meditation have something to offer for everyone, it's just a matter of finding a style/class/teacher that speaks personally to each student. Off the mat, Sher works as a training coordinator for a non-profit human services agency, having worked in human services programs for over 15 years in direct care, management, quality assurance and training. At her agency she offers several trauma sensitive yoga classes to adults in community mental health programs, teen girls in DCF programs and offers iRest to adults with traumatic or acquired brain injuries. Sher teaches trainings and workshops on wellness, burnout and compassion fatigue for staff and offers these trainings to other healthcare workers in the community.
